Safety on the Road

DO YOU remember when you first surrendered your life to Christ? If you are like me, you thought all your troubles would come to an end.

For hundreds of years, our Native American people have suffered at the hands of others, often in the name of Christianity. They have also endured painful persecution and rejection by friends and relatives because of their faith in Christ.

TODAY, I INVITE YOU to pray with me that our Native people and those serving in Native Ministry will be kept safe from unreasonable people.

Luke 21:16-19 says “You will be betrayed by your own parents, brothers, family, and friends. Some of you will even be killed. Because of me, you will be hated by everyone. But don’t worry! You will be saved by being faithful to me.”

Ask our Creator to protect and guide our First Nations people and those serving in Native Ministry, as they experience tribulation because of their faith.

MORE ABOUT: Safety on the Road

I like to study with 5 translations. As you go through these studies, I encourage you to do the same. “The Scriptures” is a translation that includes the original Hebrew names and has the books in chronological order. The Contemporary English Version (CEV) is a translation that is written for ‘oral tradition’ peoples and it flows well while reading it aloud. The Amplified version is one where meanings of words and phrases are ‘amplified’ for better understanding. The King James Version (KJV) is the translation that works well with Strong’s Concordance. The Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) is a great companion version that I find gives great insight.

ADDITIONAL SCRIPTURE

Luke 21:12-19“But before all this, they shall lay their hands on you and persecute you you, delivering you up to the congregations and prisons, and be brought before sovereigns and rulers for My Name’s sake, And it shall turn out to you for a witness. Therefore, resolve in your hearts not to premeditate on what to answer. For I shall give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries shall not be able to refute or resist. And you shall also be betrayed by parents and brothers and relatives and friends. And some of you shall be put to death. And you shall be hated by all because of My Name. But not a hair of your head shall be lost at all. Possess your lives by your endurance!” (The Scriptures)

Luke 21:12-19“Before all this happens, you will be arrested and punished. You will be tried in your meeting places and put in jail. Because of me you will be placed on trial before kings and governors. But this will be your chance to tell about your faith.  Don’t worry about what you will say to defend yourselves. I will give you the wisdom to know what to say. None of your enemies will be able to oppose you or to say that you are wrong. You will be betrayed by your own parents, brothers, family, and friends. Some of you will even be killed. Because of me, you will be hated by everyone. But don’t worry! You will be saved by being faithful to me.” (CEV)

Luke 21:12-19“But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, and bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake. This will be a time and an opportunity for you to testify [about Me]. So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; for I will give you [skillful] words and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. But you will be betrayed and handed over even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be continually hated by everyone because of [your association with] My name. But not a hair of your head will perish. By your [patient] endurance [empowered by the Holy Spirit] you will gain your souls.” (Amplified)

Luke 21:12-19“But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.  And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.  And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.  But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls.” (KJV)

Luke 21:12-19 “But before all this, they will arrest you and persecute you, handing you over to the synagogues and prisons; and you will be brought before kings and governors. This will all be on account of me, but it will prove an opportunity for you to bear witness. So make up your minds not to worry, rehearsing your defense beforehand; for I myself will give you an eloquence and a wisdom that no adversary will be able to resist or refute. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends; some of you they will have put to death; and everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will be lost. By standing firm you will save your lives.” (CJB)

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3“For the rest, brothers, pray for us, so that the Word of Yahweh spreads rapidly and be praised, as also with you, and that we might be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men, for not all have belief. But the Master is trustworthy, who shall establish you and guard you from the wicked one.” (The Scriptures)

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3“Finally, our friends, please pray for us. This will help the message about the Lord to spread quickly, and others will respect it, just as you do. Pray that we may be kept safe from worthless and evil people. After all, not everyone has faith. But the Lord can be trusted to make you strong and protect you from harm.” (CEV)

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3“Furthermore, brethren, do pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may speed on (spread rapidly and run its course) and be glorified (extolled) and triumph, even as [it has done] with you. And that we may be delivered from perverse (improper, unrighteous) and wicked (actively malicious) men, for not everybody has faith and is held by it. Yet the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen [you] and set you on a firm foundation and guard you from the evil [one].” (Amplified)

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you; And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” (KJV)

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3“Finally, brothers, pray for us that the Lord’s message may spread rapidly and receive honor, just as it did with you; and that we may be rescued from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has trust. But the Lord is worthy of trust; he will make you firm and guard you from the Evil One.” (CJB)

Colossians 4:2-6“Continue in prayer, watching therein, with thanksgiving, praying at the same time also for us, that Elohim would open to us a door for the word, to speak the secret of Messiah, for which I am also in chains, so that I make it clear, as I should speak. Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your word always be with favour, seasoned with salt, so that you know how you ought to answer each one.” (The Scriptures)

Colossians 4:2-6“Never give up praying. And when you pray, keep alert and be thankful. Be sure to pray that God will make a way for us to spread his message and explain the mystery about Christ, even though I am in jail for doing this. Please pray that I will make the message as clear as possible. When you are with unbelievers, always make good use of the time. Be pleasant and hold their interest when you speak the message. Choose your words carefully and be ready to give answers to anyone who asks questions.” (CEV)

Colossians 4:2-6“Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer [life], being [both] alert and intent in [your praying] with thanksgiving. And at the same time pray for us also, that God may open a door to us for the Word (the Gospel), to proclaim the mystery concerning Christ (the Messiah) on account of which I am in prison; That I may proclaim it fully and make it clear [speak boldly and unfold that mystery], as is my duty. Behave yourselves wisely [living prudently and with discretion] in your relations with those of the outside world (the non-Christians), making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity. Let your speech at all times be gracious (pleasant and winsome), seasoned {as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you].” (Amplified)

Colossians 4:2-6“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (KJV)

Colossians 4:2-6“Keep persisting in prayer, staying alert in it and being thankful. Include prayer for us, too, that God may open a door for us to proclaim the message about the secret of the Messiah — for that is why I am in prison. And pray that I may speak, as I should, in a way that makes the message clear.  Behave wisely toward outsiders, making full use of every opportunity —  let your conversation always be gracious and interesting, so that you will know how to respond to any particular individual.” (CJB)
