Historical References and Anniversaries

March 1, 1524 – Phil Konstantin notes in his book, This Day in North American Indian History, that an American Indian boy is kidnapped by explorers.

On the Panama History – Age of Exploration Time Line website
( ) there is mention of the March 1, 1524 trip of Giovanni Verrazano, as well as another explorer Francisco Hernandez de Córdoba, who would have reached the Yucatan in March 1517. This site notes that the group with Francisco Hernandez de Córdoba purposed to kidnap Indian slaves to replenish Cuba.
